    Now there are more than 800 schools around the globe, and 117014 candidates studied in the 2021/2022 academic year at 75 countries 14 languages.

    Ukrainian Wine & Spirit School

    UWSS was founded in 2014 by Kateryna Yushchenko. We are the first and one WSET Approved Programme Provider in Ukraine. Our school prepares sommeliers, winemakers, traders, retailers, wine bloggers, cruise liner staff and wine enthusiasts. We are proud to have more than 400 alums from more than ten countries - Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Mauritius, Seychelles, UAE and Korea, that give us a strong base for promoting a culture of confident wine consumption.

    Introductory Level 1 | 6 Hours

    The Introductory Level 1 covers six hours of wine curriculum, beginning with significant eras in the history of California wine, including the Mission era, post-Gold Rush, Prohibition, and modern times. Level 1 candidates will:

    - Learn how California's geography, the Pacific Ocean and mountain ranges affect viticulture and wine styles.
    - Acquire fundamental knowledge of grape-growing practices and the specifics of viticulture compared to other agriculture, including the ability to identify and describe the important grape varieties grown in California.
    - Receive an introduction to the American Viticultural Area (AVA) system, including the world-famous AVAs of Napa Valley, Sonoma County and Santa Barbara County.
    - Explore California's iconic wineries, such as Ridge Vineyards, Frog’s Leap Winery and Robert Mondavi Winery.
    - Learn about the key statistics for California wine in global production, consumption and exports.

    Intermediate Level 2 | 20 Hours

    Intermediate Level 2 | 20 Hours

    The Intermediate Level 2 course builds on Level 1 with 20 hours of curriculum and an additional tasting component. For theory, students will cover important events in California's wine history timeline and identify key figures who helped shape the state’s wine industry, as well as:

    - Learn about important geographical factors in major California regions such as rivers, dry creeks and important mountain ranges including the Coastal Range, Mayacamas Mountains, the Vaca Range and Santa Cruz Mountains.
    - Take a deeper look at seven of California’s key grape varieties by exploring the growing regions where they are grown and their distinctive taste profiles.
    - Build an understanding of the vine's annual life cycle and related terms, including flowering, bud break, véraison, trellising, pruning, green harvest, harvest timing, and more.
    - Learn winemaking fundamentals and explore cooperage variations (French vs. American vs. other European oak) and how oak selection affects wine style.
    - Delve deeper into historic AVAs in Lodi and the Sacramento Delta, Mendocino County, Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo County, Monterey County and Santa Cruz Mountains.

    Payments

     

    Full payment must be made at the time of booking and places will only be confirmed once payment is received.

    Cancellations

     

    Cancellations of confirmed places are accepted up to 15 working days prior to the start of the course. An administration fee ₴5000 and the full cost of the study materials ₴3000 for 2 level and ₴5000 for 3 level will be deducted and the remainder of the course fee refunded to the payee.

    Transfers of a confirmed booking either to another course or applicant can be made up to 15 working days before the course start date on payment of a ₴5000 admin fee.

     

    Course or examination transfers

     

    Transfers cannot be carried forward to the next academic year (which commenced on 1 August). If a confirmed course booking is canceled during the 15 working days prior to the start of the course, or at any time after the start of the course, no refund or transfer of the course fees will be made.

    Examination dates are fixed to the course onto which you book and any transfer to an alternative date will incur an administration fee of ₴5000. All transfer requests must be made in writing by email to (admin@uwss.com.ua) at least 15 working days before the original examination date.

    Transfer requests made within 15 working days of the examination date will incur the admin fee and cost of examination paper which will have been ordered via WSET Awards. Course fees will be refunded in full if Ukrainian Wine & Spirit School changes a course date or cancels a course if enrolments do not reach the required minimum numbers – notification will be made in the 15 working days prior to the planned start date of the course. Please note all transfers are subject to availability on alternative course/examination dates.

      

    Delivery of course materials

     

    Course materials can be posted to a Nova Poshta branch or student’s home address (additional fees apply for international delivery) or collected from Ukrainian Wine & Spirit School.

    Online Courses

     

    1. All bookings must be received at least 5 working days prior to the advertised start date or submission date for the feedback tests. Any changes to these conditions may incur a ₴5000 administration fee.

    2. Cancellations of confirmed online courses are accepted up to 10 working days prior to the start date as long as the student hasn’t accessed the online platform. An administration fee of ₴5000 and the full cost of the study materials ₴3000 for 2 level and ₴5000 for 3 level will be deducted, the remainder of the course fee will be refunded.

    3. If a confirmed online course is canceled less than 10 working days prior to the start date, or at any time after the start of the course, no refund or transfer of the course fees will be made.

    4. WSET and Ukrainian Wine & Spirit School have the right to cancel or change course start dates. The student will be notified 5 working days prior to the start date. Course fees will be refunded in full.

    5. Students should have modern computer equipment, internet, general computer skills and be proficient in English at least as B1 level.

    6. Wine samples are not provided as part of the fee, but you will be given guidance on the styles you need to source.
